Urticaire chronique organized its first activity on October 19 in Lévis with nearly 100 registered participants and more than 80 new members of the association.

The place chosen for the event was appreciated. The vast majority of comments are positive. The day was opened with a welcome address by Dr. Rémi Gagnon, President of the Quebec Association of

Allergists and Immunologists.

Elaine Déry, the outgoing president of the association Chronic Urticaria, accompanied by Normand Lootzak, presented the basics of the association and its service offer to develop. Dr. Joel Claveau explained how to distinguish urticaria from other skin diseases. Each of us then realized that it was not so simple. An urticarial reaction often hides something else. Dr. Gordon Sussman went on to explain, with great mastery and humor, the extent to which urticaria is an unrecognized disease that can be severe.

The morning ended on the generous presentation of Dr. Simon Nigen who leaves us on a positive note. Urticaria is getting better and better and there are new treatments under study.

In the afternoon, we discussed the quality of life, with the presentation of Dr. Hermanio Lima. He gives us a clear and humorous portrait of medical knowledge on this aspect of the disease, more difficult and variable for each of us. Normand Lootzak then gave us an impact lecture on how to live with chronic urticaria. The educational day ended with a final intervention by Dr. Jacques Hébert to present us very clearly the tracking tools that are standardized worldwide and that must be used to advance knowledge about chronic urticaria.

The general assembly of the members of the association followed and the new board of directors, for the year 2019-2020, is composed of Mr. Léonard Aucoin, Mr. Jean-Denys Bouchard, Mrs. Elaine Déry, Mrs. Isabelle Hébert, and Mrs. Luce Veilleux.
